Depletion/Degradation of Fibronectin is the single penultimate reason for a normal wound to become chronic. In cases of Radiotherapy induced Skin reactions, Venous Ulcers, Diabetic Foot Ulcers, Pressure Ulcers and other non healing ulcers, the Fibronectin content at the wound site is the most consistently degraded even though its concentration in the plasma and blood of the same patient are normal.
